The Engineering Desk / Module 06
AI estimation agentAI
Scoped read access, generated instruction packs, and draft-only proposals for estimates — server-validated, server-priced, imported by your reviewer alone.
- Chief estimator
- Planning lead

On this desk. The honest claim about AI in estimating is narrow: it shortens the first pass. Everything that follows — judgement on rates, on risk, on what the drawings do not say — stays with the estimator, which is why the agent is confined to drafts the server re-prices.
How it is bounded
Token scope per project
Bearer tokens scoped to project and capability, compared in constant time, revocable mid-flight, with a kill switch for the whole gateway.
Money excluded at the query
Financial tables are outside the agent's reachable set by construction — not filtered in the response, absent from the query.
Whitelist import, atomic rollback
Only permitted record types import, all-or-nothing, by a named human. A malformed proposal changes nothing.
Instruction packs out
The gateway generates the context pack your agent needs — item list, resource library — so the same prompt produces comparable output across projects.
Commercially
Metered add-on on Cost & Billing and the two mid plans; included in Enterprise Mandate. Usage sits on your ledger, so a tender-heavy month is visible as a cost rather than a surprise.
What it will not do
- Price anything itself
- Import without a reviewer
- Reach a project outside its scope
